is teenSMART Different?
teenSMART is superior to traditional driver-safety programs in three key ways:
SCIENTIFICALLY BASED CONTENT:
NOT JUST OPINIONS
Unlike traditional programs that focus on passing a motor vehicle test, teenSMART was the first driver-education training system developed specifically to reduce teen collision rates. Based upon comprehensive research conducted by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation, it targets six factors that empirically relate to teen car crashes.
Today teenSMART is the only teen-driver program available that addresses the top factors that cause a majority of teen car crashes.
PROVEN CRASH REDUCTION:
NOT JUST HOPE
Almost all driver education is focused on teaching the "rules of the road" and not crash reduction. By comparison, teenSMART uses advanced instructional design and technology, backed by thorough impact evaluation and follow-up research, to continually refine and improve its effectiveness. The result: teenSMART grads exhibit statistically significant improvement in collision-reduction knowledge, skills and behind-the-wheel driving behavior.
teenSMART was the first—and remains—the only teen-driver program to be subjected to this level of third-party evaluation of learning effectiveness.
JUST THE FACTS
teenSMART is proven to change drivers' knowledge, skills and behavior. teenSMART was beta tested in Elk Grove, California, during the summer of 1998. One year after training, collision rates for teenSMART beta graduates were 71% lower than the national collision rate for drivers 16 to 19 years old during the same time frame (as reported by the National Safety Council). According to California DMV accident reports, collision rates for teenSMART graduates were also 30% lower than a matched control group consisting of students from the same high schools who did not take teenSMART training.
The teenSMART developmental evaluation and beta test results were and remain unprecedented in the driver-education industry.
